Gaining Ground

Discovering the New Iranian American

  • As young Iranian Americans, we will be the ones responsible for propagating Iranian culture in the United States. Who are we in this new generation, what will we preserve, and what might we leave behind?

"Gaining Ground" is an attempt to answer these questions. A space in which we - and YOU - will join to share our discoveries of what it means to be Iranian in the United States today, what it means to be Iranian in general, and how we can promote our newfound identities in our adopted homes. Please read "About 'Gaining Ground'" for more information!

So, doesn’t exactly have much to do with Iranian culture, but an incisive satire on Middle Eastern stereotypes. And really funny :)

Ali Eskandrian – A Perfect Fusion

Posted by Aggie on August 2, 2009

Ali Eskandrian so beautifully fuses Iranian musical traditions with his own, Bob Dylan-esque approach. Amazing work. Maybe we can get him to do some work for our doc!

Check out more of his music on Ali’s myspace page. I am in love with his sound. Maybe we can interview him for the doc. Or interview the whole Freedom Glory Project crew (see above posts).
